Vote John Nixon - Press Conference Video

Welcome,

I am running for the office of Lima City Council President because I have the experience and knowledge, both institutional and general, to lead City Council. Over the past 14+ years, representing the 1st and 2nd Wards, I have demonstrated my ability to deal with many difficult and challenging issues. I have consistently legislated with the best interest of all Lima residents in mind. I have maintained an effort to support legislation that is good for any generation or administration.

Currently, I have been appointed to the position of Lima City Council President to complete the unexpired term of Matt Huffman, who is now our State Representative.  As Council President it is my job to run the Council meetings, appoint Council Members to Committees and try to steer Council towards constructive resolution to issues facing the City of Lima.

The most important duty of the City Council President is to listen to the concerns of the voters and give voice to their concerns.  In my first campaign for 1st Ward City Councilman, I promised to represent the views and concerns of all residents and allow their voices to be heard.
I have done my best to deliver on that promise!

I am the only Council President candidate with a proven history of representing your views and concerns in City Government.  I have a proven track record of handling issues with the HONESTY and INTEGRITY that should be demanded by voters.

I have always approached the issues facing the City with the following outlook:

  1. Listen to the concerns of the City Taxpayers
  2. Try to find the “facts” regarding the issue not just the emotions
  3. Develop solutions that are fair to the taxpayers: both residential and business taxpayers
  4. Make sure solutions are long term solutions that will stand the test of time; not solutions that are simply “politically motivated”

I would appreciate your vote for Lima City Council President,

John Nixon
